How do I release my Broadband router’s IP address and get a new one.?

How do I release my Broadband router’s IP address and get a new one. My current IP address won’t let me access my mail server for some reason?
I am on Win-XP-Prof
My Router = Motorola SURFboard® SB4100

3. It is a very simple process depending on your router, what brand of router do u use?

4. You'll have to unpower, then let it reboot. If it's a dynamic ip address system, it'll be assigned another automatically. Static, DNS info can be set manually, and "told" to remain the same. If this info is mismatched with an external stand-alone router, it'll cause addressing conflicts.
