1. go to start,
run,
type "cmd"
then type "ipconfig /renew"
2. you cant change a router ip address.
3. First, you can try just rebooting the router and see if that does it, otherwise you will have to see if there's a DHCP release/renew function on the router that you can use to request a new one from your ISP.
There's a chance that neither of these will work, it depends a lot more on your service provider's setup more than it does your equipment. A standard for an IP lease is 24 hours, meaning you would have to disconnect from your ISP for a day, allow the lease to expire and the IP to be given to a different user, then sign back on.
If you don't have any success with the renewal, you can try looking online for a proxy site to use, but be careful, a lot of them are going to be questionable from a security/virus standpoint.
4. If you turn your router off for about ten minuets it should assign you a new ip address.
5. Vienna,
Your router IP Address is local and differs from your WAN (Wide Area Network) address. Changing your IP address of the router won't matter, that will only affect the addresses given out on your LAN.
The release time of a WAN address changes and is controlled by your service provider. Sadly this does not change often, and you rarely have control of it.
Your best solution? Using a Proxy server!! Depending on the website you're trying to access, a Proxy web server will act as if you're browsing the web site from a different IP Address.
http://www.hidemyass.com/ and http://www.web4proxy.com/ are very good.
*PLEASE NOTE* - If you ever put a username, password, or personal information when using a proxy server there is a possibility that the server you are using for the proxy server, can capture that data. So I would NOT recommend using any kind of log in information.
