How come my router IP address password changed?

I need to get onto my router's IP address in order to forward ports so I can open my NAT for xbox live. I did this about a month ago and it worked fine. I typed in 192.168.1.1 in my browser's address bar and typed in the default name and password admin and admin, but everytime I try they fail.

1. It may have been reset or changed for some reason. How secure is your network ie. is the connection encrypted? It's possible that someone may have changed it without you knowing. Try admin as username and password as password.

Other than that, contact your ISP or the manufacturer of the router.

2. Someone could have maliciously changed it if you have wireless enabled.

Fortunately, there is a RESET feature for every router.

Varying from model to model, but usually you locate the reset button on the router which usually requires a paper clip or thick pin to press.

Press and hold it for about 30 seconds and the router will reset itself.

Your original password should work now, and you should use this opportunity to change the default password.
