Linksys wireless router problem with Macs?

My brother and I both have macbooks would like to share a wireless connection through a Linksys WAP54G Wireless-G Access Point that is hooked directly into our modem. The problem is that only one computer will receive connection at a time, the other one will get a self-assigned IP address. Every piece of software I can find for this type of router is designed for Windows. It's a pain to have to restart the modem everytime we one of us want's to use the internet on our own laptop, can someone help?

1. That device is not a router. It's a wireless access point, which is basically an ethernet-to-wireless bridge device that wireless devices connect to. (the WAP in WAP54G means Wireless Access Point.)

You'll need to purchase a router if you wish to continue using this device.
