Can a router run for 24/7 365 days a year?

I have a linksys WRT54G2 wireless G router. And its been operating for 4 months and running... Are wireless routers designed for such long use?

I do not have plans to give the router or even my laptop a rest because i download a lot of stuff from rapidshare.

Yes my laptop is also runnng for straight 3 months now without out shutting it down or putting it to sleep. The question for my laptop have been answered. but now for the router.

1. as long as you have power and they are vented and cooled good it should last. dlink, netgear, or linksys router are your options. personally i like dlink the best. most people always keep their router on. ive had good luck with the linksys wrt54g but the d-link dir 655 has been great.

2. yeah probably

3. Yes - Wireless routers are designed for continuous operation. Just make sure is has plenty of air flow around it (No soft surfaces etc.), and keep the vents dusted off, just likou ya would a computer. As long as it is staying cool enough, it will be fine!
