What is the difference of the router IP address and gateway address?

And do you need both when setting up a router?

Public Comments

1. the address or up of the router will be/should be the gateway address. The gateway is just what it sounds like, a way to the Internet or outside world.

2. No difference. Your router IS the gateway. A gate to the outside world/Internet.

3. You can get the difference of the router IP address and gateway address details at here

You can check the IP-address it's location Longitude and Latitude also, unlimited ip check up,etc here
http://www.ip-details.com/

4. The Router's IP address and the Gateway IP address are the same.

5. To get your IP or Gateway Address to go to >Start >Run
Type "cmd" without the quotes
Type "ipconfig" without quotes
You should see your IP and Gateway Address

Your Gateway address will be something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (this is the address of your router)
The IP address is the address from your internet provider

6. The router has two IP addresses: one for the LAN and one for the external network. The LAN address is the gateway for computers on the LAN to communicate with the outside world.

7. There is not difference. To get your router IP address simple check out with router IP trackers:
