How do I change my IP address without restarting my router?

I have a dynamic IP and every time I restart my router, my IP address gets changed. How do I do this on my computer without turning my router on and off? Thanks!

1. dns flush

2. If I understood the question correctly, you want your computer's IP to change?

Typically Windows will remember the IP it was given and after a reboot it will ask for the same one, if available, from the router and re-use it. Sometimes the DHCP server (in your case, in-built to the router) will have a set lifetime - typically a minimum and maximum time window - within which it should remember what IP it gave to what computer (known as a lease). This is so that if a computer doesn't renew it at the time of expiration the DHCP server knows it can retrieve it into the pool of IP numbers it can assign to new computers joining the network.

The commands:

IPCONFIG /RELEASE
IPCONFIG /RENEW

Manually unlock the IP address assignment and renews another lease. Depending on whether the DHCP server within the router remembers assignments within its lease window you will get a new IP address every time, however rebooting the router will lose this lease list and hence you're guaranteed a new IP that way.

4. You can't Your public IP is assigned by the ISP DHCP server, and may not even change when you restart. If you attempt to change it manually it will cut off your connection, giving your ISP the right to terminate your service without notice. This will leave you liable for an outstanding contract charges, and any costs for data losses suffered if your illegal action disrupts anyone else's service.
