Why is the IP address of my router not working?

I'm trying to install my router, but when I put the IP into the address bar of my computer, it adds a http://..../ to it, and it tells me it can't find the site. How do I fix this?

1. Its correct to add the http://...../ to the ip address. If it cant find it though, you must either be using the wrong ip address, or your computer has the wrong ip address. Double check both of them. Your computer should be set to obtain its ip address automatically. If you like, post both your router and your computer ip address here.

2. Try setting your computer's IP address to the same subnet as the router. For example, if the router address is 192.168.1.1, set your computer to use a static IP address of 192.168.1.x, where x is between 2 and 254. Note that the first 3 sections of the IP address indicate the subnet.

After you get the router set up properly, you can return it to getting it's address automatically by DHCP.

3. Check these sites below that can track your default router IP address:
http://www.find-ip-address.org/router-ip-address.php
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/router-ip-address.php

and give your more information's about default router IP addresses by different routers.

Good luck!
