I want to know what is the IP address of the router?

I have a router connected to my laptop. I have hard reset the router. and router IP is set to some unknown address. I am unable to what is the IP address. I have used IP scanner and scanned from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.40.255 but no luck. Now can some one advise how to find the IP address of the router?

1. If you look on your router itself, it normally tells you the address on the side. However if you know the brand and model of your router, we could look it up.

Edit: Go to your Start Menu. Click Run . If you have vista/7, you don't have a run button, and you type this in the start menu box. Type "cmd".
Command prompt will show. Type "ipconfig" and it will tell you the ip address.
Best of luck!

2. you wont the routers ip to go into the settings try 192.168.1.2 or like the other guy said look it up go to speedtest.net if you wont to know the ip being displayed while your on the internet

3. you can't scan it if your network not work, default for mostly router I found is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, so please change your laptop to same network address with this address to make your network work, I suggest 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.0.2

4. Router IP trackers will help you to find out Router IP on your machine:
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/router-ip-address.php
http://www.find-ip-address.org/router-ip-address.php

If it for some reason does not display anything just disable firewall because in some situation firewall can block execution of JAVA applet.

Good luck!
