ive set up a home website recently, so i don't have a domain, i need to use my IP address.... but when i try it asks me the password for my wireless router, which i cant give to every person who wants to visit my site....so is there a different ip address or an i stuck because of my password protected router?
i used websites and it says this"The server 98.145.197.63 at WRT54G requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)." and i looked it up,the WRT54G is my linkseys.......

2. I don't think you understand IP Addresses and Routers.

The IP you are assigned by your Provider is your IP. When you use a Router, your router uses the IP your Provider gives you. Your Router, in turn, assigns a range of IPs within the IP your Provider gave you so you can connect several computers to that Router.

Ex: your provider gives you the IP of
256.157.53.2

This will be the IP your Router will use. Your router will then give you range of IPs with
256.157.53.x to 256.157.53.x (where the x can be .3 to .8 or more depending on your router).

You cannot share the same IP as your Router as this will cause a packet collision and you would not get anywhere or anything except errors.

If you are setting up a home website for others to access, you should think of setting up a server. This will be able to handle the traffic and the handling of queues needed. You should think of setting up a domain so you can control the way the information is handled.
