Can I get a free wireless router from Virgin Media even though I wouldn't be applying as a new customer?
Is there any chance that I can phone Virgin Media and ask for a free wireless router since I'm such a long time customer? A friend of mine suggested that I say that I want to switch my ISP as an attempt to get them to give me a free router. I want to know if anyone has done this before and if they were successful in doing so.

1. these companies are desperate to keep customers. You may get lucky and just get someone with a heart who'll give you a router. You could lie and say its broken or say you want to switch because the router they supplied is temperamental/you need wireless etc.
2. if you tell them you want to switch to their service and they give you a router then you do not switch then you have commited fraud in the eyes of the law and i guarantee you they will prosecute you. go ahead if you want to spend some time in jail being bubba's girlfriend.
3. I tried last week, i was on the phone to them for 30mins asking them 4 one as iv been with them for over a year and all i got was a no ur not a new customer they are for new customers only to which i replied well thats a bit unfair as new customers can get one but people that have been with you for a while cant!! all they kept sayin was no... but theres no harm in tryin.. iv jus paid £45 for one!!
4. You can only get a free wireless router from Virgin Media if you're on the existing 2 meg broadband and you upgrade to the 10 meg, this normally costs about en extra £4 a month if your on a standard contract.
