Does anyone know how to access the sky netgear router setting?
I am trying to access my router setting but i dont know how to. I wanted to put a password on the network so no one can use it.
Is there anyway i can find out how many laptops and computers are using the internet connection?
Many Thanks

1. you should have been given an ip address whenyou got the router.
if not:
Go into network connections from control panel. Right click the connection and then select the properties, select the TCP/IP and then properties, then select Alternative Configuration and here you should be able to select your own.
whatever you set it to, type that into your internet browser (internet explorer, firefox, safari etc) and you will be prompted for a username and password. the default is:
user:admin
pass:sky
that may be the other way round, but it is admin and sky.
in there you can change the network type, password, network ID, computers allowed access etc
2. in your browser address bar, enter (I think - going on memory) http://192.168.0.1 (might be 192.168.1.1.... if it's neither of these, go to command prompt, type 'ipconfig', and use the numbers that turn up after 'default gateway').
At the logon prompt, the username is 'admin', and the password is 'sky'.
Go to wireless settings, and enable encryption, you will be asked to provide a key. Write it down.
And yes, you should be able to find the names of the computers using the router - it'll be under 'clients', somewhere....
EDIT for matey above - are you suggesting he uses his own computer's IP...? That wouldn't make much sense.
3. go onto netgears website and click on support it is comprehensive they have the full info for all the routers
I have one and have just been into it the other day to change my isp settings. You will need to connect onto it with a patch lead direct from the pc you are on and type in the address barthe address for the router mine is http://192.168.0.1 as it is a dg834g router you will get the info from the website for your router
The username will be admin and the password will be the one you have set when you first set up the router the default is usually either password or 1234 if you never changed it initially
