How do I stop others from using my DLink DI-524 wireless router to access the internet?
I know how to go to http://192.168.n1.n2, but then I do not know what I should do to secure the router. Someone is using the router and is causing our internet access to be very slow.

1. You need to re-do the setup to secure your router. The details on how to do it will be in the manual.
2. once you do 192.168.n1.n2 sign in using admin as username and password and the password. Then under maintenance it should say set password. It's easy from there.
3. You need to find the section in your router setup that is probably called something like "Wireless Security". There you can set up an encryption code that you have to enter to connect to the router. the encryption methods will be "WEP" and depending on how old your router is, "WPA" or "WPA2". I would suggest using WPA2, if available, as this is the most secure.
You should probably also go to the administrative settings and setup a login password for the router settings.
4. "myWIFIzone"
enables you to prevent freeloaders from using your WIFI network to surf the web without having to fiddle with your WIFI access point configuration. It can be installed on any machine on the network, from where it runs a DHCP server that automatically responds to any intruder requests and takes control of the connection. If an outsider attempts to use your web connectivity, he will be shown an `Access Not Available` screen and you will be notified from the system tray. You can also choose to allow requests and maintain a list of allowed IP and MAC addresses. myWIFIzone supports WEP and WPA.
Freeware.
