What does it mean when your ip address through a router begins with 24?
i recentyl reset to factory default settings on my router and set up everything but the ip address i get when i am connected wirelessly to my router now begins with a 24 starting ip address. however when i disconnect my router and hook it up to my cable modem it begins with a 72 ip address which was the same address i had before i reset to factory default.

1. 24 is a public ip address and i am guessing that your router doesn;t have to do anything with it, i believe it's caused by windows, windows will give you a random ip address when the router is reloading or not responding. 2. If you are using DSL then you may have punched a block of IP Address, if so then the router will pass them out.
