How many laptops can connect to a Netgear Wireless router typicaly? How many wireless Laptops can connect to a Netgear WIRELESS-G router, wirelessly and simultaneously? I had my aunt go out and buy a Netgear WGR614 so she could connect each of her son's (5 ) laptops, my cousins' PSP and my uncle's laptop to it. She had alot of trouble getting things running and sat through a troubleshooter Tech Supoort (you know how helpful the tech support in INDIA is) - and she only got one of them online. Is this router designed to allow for multiple connections even for low-speed internet browsing?

Is is safe to put a router bit in a drill press? The project I'm working on requires a fairly complicated cut with a 1/4 dado router bit into white pine. Although the cut can be done on a router table, it would be a much easier setup to build a jig on the table of my drill press. That way, I would be able to see where the bit is going at all times and use the press to plunge the bit. The problem is that the top speed of the drill press is 3500 rpm, and the router bit was designed to run around 10,000 rpm. First off. Is this safe? Will the bit cut cleanly, or just tear the wood up? Could I damage the bit doing this?
Why do they still design electrical outlets with 2 plugs? Doesnt make sense as most outlets now require a powerbar to support all the equipment. My computer plug has a monitor, printer, computer, modem, and router that require an outlet My TV .. TV, Wii, DVD, Sound system Adjacent to my bed: Alarm clock, lamp, laptop Why don't they just design power outlets for multiple plugs now
Programs that are designed to evenly split BANDWIDTH between router? Ive searched for a couple so called "bandwidth managers" that are supposed to split bandwidth evenly between people on your router. so one computer would get 50% of bandwidth and the other would get 50%. does any one no of any programs that would successfully do this? thanks for you help.
How do I hook up my home router? I encountered a problem. I have the dsl box and a router but the box is not designed to hook directly to the router but instead has a usb hook up. So one side of the cable is Cat5 and the other is usb. It says on the box that it is specifically for usb. So how do I hook it up to the router that needs that Cat5 connection? Confusing, I know sorry. The computer that the box is hooked up to does not have a network card, does it need one.
how to connect computer to computer to router I have a short Ethernet cable that I would like to connect to a second computer that is connected to a router (with a spare Ethernet port) so that the first computer is connected to the router. Is there some software designed for this? thanks The reason why I want to connect the first computer to the second one and then the router is because my cable is too short to go directly to the router. I do not need any additional hardware, just the right software.
What is the best way to design a network that contains a fibre optic backbone, 4 subnets and and net access? I currently have a fibre optic backbone connected to the internet through a dmz. THere are two hubs on the backbone, each connected to a router. Each router then connects to 2 switches which will eventually make a total of 4 subnets containing computers and printers. Am i using the right network devices here? Ok, i have a DMZ sitting in between the internal network and the internet to provide security. In the DMZ is a web server, email server and a Remote access server with a firewall sitting infront of it keeping unwanted users out from the internet Could i put the two routers onto the backbone, then connect the switches to these routers to create my subnets.(i thiink thats what you were suggesting) Im going to use private ip addressing using dhcp and dns servers. I dont think i will need NAT as the workstations on the network dont need to connect to the internet directly, although they will be connecting to a WAN that contains another site. thanks for your help
What would be the best recommended wireless router for Windows Vista? I just don't know where to start with research so I am resorting to Yahoo! Answers. I do NOT have wireless internet but I need a wireless wifi connection to connect with friends via Nintendo DS. Prices and good functional design would be helpful in my research so I can make a final decision. Thanks to all who answer!

Has anybody made their own wood trim pieces? I didn't care for any of the pieces at the lumberyard and thought, "I have a table saw and a router, maybe I could take a 2x4, cut to square pieces and router my design". Has anybody made their own pieces?
I need a good website for first time wood router users? Is there a website that shows (pictures) what the different cuts from the different bit will look like? I have a lot of projects in mind but I don't know what bits to use or which bits will make which designs/cuts. Please give me a good website if there is one.
Wireless Router Question? ok, so i have a scientific atlanta cable modem. i was thinking about getting a wireless router. i mainly want to use a wireless router for my psp, but it would be nice if i could use it for my computer to without any problems. so heres the qusetions: first, does the wireless router i get have to come from the same company as my cable modem (scientific atlanta)? second qusetion: how do i install a wireless router to my computer ( do i need to plug it in or does my computer just pick up the signal wirelessly)? third: will my internet speed change if i change from a modem to a router? (fast or slow) finally: i was just wondering psp's can only use routers designed for the psp. thank u and sry it is so long. one last question... if i get a wireless router do i still have to keep my cable modem? or does the router replace it?
Will a router get damaged if it frequently gets turned on and off accidentally? I have a linksys WRT54G2 wireless router. I have it plugged on a loose socket because that is the only free and nearest socket in a convenient place for the router and frequently gets disconnected from power at random times (like two to three times a day) because of dogs being unruly all the time. Id rather have the plug get bumped by dogs rather than the router itself. Is there a chance that the router can get damaged by that? Are routers designed to endure that kind of treatment?
Can a router run for 24/7 365 days a year? I have a linksys WRT54G2 wireless G router. And its been operating for 4 months and running... Are wireless routers designed for such long use? Yes my laptop is also runnng for straight 3 months now without out shutting it down or putting it to sleep. The question for my laptop have been answered. but now for the router.

Linksys wireless router problem with Macs? My brother and I both have macbooks would like to share a wireless connection through a Linksys WAP54G Wireless-G Access Point that is hooked directly into our modem. The problem is that only one computer will receive connection at a time, the other one will get a self-assigned IP address. Every piece of software I can find for this type of router is designed for Windows. It's a pain to have to restart the modem everytime we one of us want's to use the internet on our own laptop, can someone help?
Can someone recommend a reliable wireless N router? I'm looking to replace my linksys WRT-310N router with one that has a stable WAN connection because the WRT-310N drops the internet every 10 to 20 minutes or so reguardles of firmware (Its a hardware defect for the entire model that cant be fixed as it is in all WRT-310N routers, it is a design flaw), and for me to get it to work again I have to give it time to resolve itself or power cycle it. the new router that I would like needs to have the following: 4 port wired Gigabit Ethernet connections wireless N the ability to put open source firm ware on it such as open DD-WRT known wan stability with no drops or random connectivity issues the router must be relitivly cool/warm but not scorching like the WRT-310N and price doesn't really mater as long as its a reliable router.

New cabinet panel doors for bathroom vanity? How would you make a panel door? Best Answer - Chosen By Voters I wouldn't suggest a single piece of wood, it will have a tendency to warp and possibly split. A single piece of wood that wide is also very expensive if you could find it. I would be more practical to make a panel door. I'm looking to replace the current vanity doors in my bathroom with homemade wooden doors I can stain. I'd like to be able to use one piece of wood per door and router a design in them. Is there any type of wood I can use that won't warp because of the moisture?

Does increasing "radio power" on wireless router increase the range? On my Asus WL-520g router there's an option to increase the "radio power" from the default number of 19 (which is recommended) up to 84 (max). Will this increase the range of the wireless signal? It doesn't seem to! My computer on the other side of the house is still "Low" and sometimes "Good" even when I ramp it up to 84. Was that what it was designed for or is it for something else?
can anyone suggest a good gaming wireless router? i play lots of big games on my ps3 but i have recently bought a massive game and the router i'm using can't cope and signs me out all the time. brilliant seeing as the game is online only play. i currently use a TALKTALK-6D725E. obviously it was never designed to even cope with flash games on miniclip but i never usually have problems. i need something that will never cut out when i play something big.
need some help with cisco wireless router? hello I am having some problems with my cisco wireless router and need some help. For the past three weeks I have had time warner cable road runner internet vonage phone and a cisco wireless router all connected and running wonderfully together. Well that all changed Thursday night. I thought that my computer might have got hit by a virus and unplugged the internet. after scanning my anti virus didn't detect anything. well i plugged up everything and much to my horror I couldn't get vonage or my wireless router to work. I could still get internet connection as long as I had the ethernet cable plugged straight into the modem. After working on it all day Friday I still wasn't able to get the vonage or my wireless router to work. This morning we were finally able to get the vonage to work agian but still haven't had any luck getting the cisco wireless router to work. I tried everything I even went out and bought another cisco router same design and model. It still isn't working. I have tried everything that i could possibly think off and every time that i plug the wireless router up the computer says that it is getting limited or no connectivity. However I didnt see how that is possible because when I ping yahoo in command prompt I get four responses. We called cisco and they weren't helpful they tried to blame the problem on Time Warner. I have given up and if anybody has any idea on what might be causing this and how to fix it please tell me so that I can fix this. Thanks Josh
how you would design this home network? 1. Suppose you are running a home business and want a very reliable Internet connection (say, you have 4 computers and you don’t want a disruption of more than 1 minute). Explain how you would design this home network. (hint, consider the following potential failures: your Internet Service Provider (ISP), your router)
Details on Wireless N Router range on G Adapters? Hi guys, I googled for plenty of time and can't seem to find similar topic with desired details. These questions assumed that G Adapters (and only G) are connected to N Router: 1. Will N Router helps to extend the range? I am aware that the speed wont, but what about range/coverage? Some said it has to be with N adapter, some said it will, and the others were not sure. I have this great answer from jpcloud, confirm/deny? =========== Yes. The 802.11n standard includes a new antenna configuration over the older g and b standards, meaning that the transmission range and reception sensitivity of the router will be greater than a b or g router. However, while a computer with a g or b network card will have a greater range when connected to an n router than it would when connected to a g or b router, it will still not have the same range as an n card connected to an n router. This is because the n network cards contain the new antenna configuration, which gives them longer range, while the older cards retain the older configuration. Therefore, for an n router and an n card, you have two factors that extend range, while for a g card connected to an n router there is only one factor that extends the range. Edit: To DaveEC, your answer neglects the fact that N design routers also have increased antenna strength, and so they can detect a weaker g or b signal (lower signal-to-noise ratio) than a g or b router. This does in fact increase the range of a g or b card when connected to the router, but not to the extent of an n card on an n router. ================ 2. If #1 answer is yes, will this extended range apply if wireless signal is set to B/G only (not Mixed N/B/G)? 2 questions above aside, but still under same assumption: 3. Will G clients have connection disturbances with mixed N/B/G signal compared to B/G or G signal? Thanks in advance.
